I have no formal kitchen training. In fact, I work on medicare policy for a living. But I love to cook.
If I ever won the lottery, I would build a house. I wouldn’t care what was in it as long as there was a really nice kitchen. As it happens, I haven’t yet won the lottery, so my kitchen is less stellar.
I’ve been cooking since I was about 5 years old, when my mom asked me to make the crust for lemon squares (my favorite cookie) because she didn’t like getting her hands absurdly greasy. She taught me the joy of being in the kitchen, and I have been spending nearly all my free time there ever since.

Here you’ll find all the food that I like to cook. As a rule, that means simple dishes that have been lovingly prepared. Because I’ve recently graduated from college, I don’t really have the budget for fancy ingredients, so many of the foods will be pretty cheap. When I get home from work, I’m usually tired, so extensive prep times are also usually out of the question. But I always cook dishes I’m excited about–life’s too short to be bored with the things you’re eating.
